Is it possible to be listed in Norwegian Kvasir, Lycos and Yahoo for free.

Our website has some usefull information for Norwegians, but we do not have any listing in the three Norwegian webcatalogs. Do we have to pay to be listed in Kvasir, Yahoo, and the Norwegian Lycos directory.
We tried to submit our site to the Lycos directory and we got an email from a Norwegian SEO company the same day, they wanted to sell us entry to the Norwegian directories for 2500 EURO! They claimed to have an exclusive right to sell these directory entries. So my question is: Is it possible to be listed for free or do we have to pay this absurd fee.

You are sure it was Euro, not NOK?

I know the company you are refering to.
Unfortunatly Yahoo and 'Nettavisen nettguide' (Nettavisen is the company that runs lycos.no) is in the pocket of this search engine registration company (they don't do SEO), but they only charge 2500 NOK if you use the folowing link:
htt p://submit.aktivt.no/

A listing in Kvasir will cost you 1989 NOK to 50.000 NOK,
the more you pay the more keyword you get and the the more you pay the better you rank on the SERP.

But to be listed your website must be in Norwegian
(or have atleast have some pages in Norwegian). You could
try to email them <firmasok@eniro.no> if you are in doubt.
They are very nice to deal with.

There is also a number of other directories in Norway, most will only list websites in Norwegian language.

As far as I can see Visit Finland your site has a lot of information in Norwegian which means that you will have no problems getting listed in Kvasir. Kvasir still has a nearly 50% market share in Norway and is by far the most important search site among the Norwegian Internet users. So you should definitively be listed there if you are serious about targeting the Norwegian audience.

They have a rather strange charging structure that takes too long to explain in this forum. I can sticky you more info if you like.

In order to get listed in www.no.yahoo.com quickly there is an option to get an express listing (7 days) for a fee of NOK 1500,-. This service is managed by the company that you were contacted by. If you don`t want an express listing you can always choose the free option.

The Lycos Directory is managed by Nettavisen.no whis is an online newspaper previously owned by Lycos. Here you can also choose an express listing for a fee of NOK 1000,-. This service is also managed by this same company. However, you can als choose a free option if you have time to wait for some weeks.

visit_finland,

This is not really an answer to your question, but if your site is what I think it is, the most important thing you have to do, is to submit your site to different regional categories in ODP.

They do not have any exclusive right...
