Thanks for the update on Finnish search engines. It's been a while since we last have somebody update that. Good stuff :)
So, how would you rank them?
I see Sonera Plaza beeing the top spot. Is it the only important one? Where would you out your effort for finnish traffic?

The problem with those Nielsen figures is they measure reach. Apart from relying on a very very small survey basis.
Reach doesn't say anything about searches done on a place.
Example: In Germny T-online is clearly the #1 site, far ahead of everything else. They have a search engine applied - in the lousiest possible way. In my logs t-online shows anywhere from 2 - 5% of all external referrers. On some days I get more from Google.fi for a german site than from t-online.
So if we want to rank the finnish SEs we need to look at logs. It would be great to get those numbers for Finland, and also for other scandinavian countries.

Known general search engines:
Nice job Risto. Some comments:
- There was one engine/directory missing - Jippii [jippii.fi ]. Jippii is the one of the biggest (3rd?) ISPs in Finland. They have their own directory and their own search engine. The are propably still using their own index for Finnish search results. Internatinal queries are directed to different engines (Google, Altavista or Fast).
- www.fi in nowadays owned by Sonera. Both Sonera Plaza and www.fi use Inktomi data for the search results, but interesting enough they give different results for the same query. Directories, however, have been combined and is the same in both sites.

jippii was missing and it is quite a big as ISP. What is Jippii directory? Do you have an URL? I haven't heard about it for years.
Jippii have their own search engine with very tiny database. Not really a major player in Finland as a search tool at the moment.

After looking closer, I noticed that there is no longer a Jippii directory, but they are using WebInfo's directory.

No, definetly not major. While their search index is what it is, the engine is used by their customers.
