Arianna with Adwords - gone Google?

Spaiderman made a remark in a thread on Google's Adwords [webmasterworld.com] outlets which got me stunned:
Libero.it uses Adwords.

Is this new? Has Arianna changed to google full time?

Arianna hasn't changed, it had never had a PPC partner.
The strange thing is that some keywords appear in both google and arianna, where others do appear only in google

Hi spaiderman, I didn't mean to say Arianna has changed PPC partners. What I'm wondering about is where Arianna gets the index nowadays.
Also it was news to me that they do Adwords.
Quite possible that all our Italian members know this, but I didn't... ;)

Arianna nowadays as ever gets its index from... Arianna!
That for default searches that all do.
For international it's should be Fast as usual AFAIK

From some months now they have been offering a PPI option
[arianna.libero.it...] (italian only)

That's what I thought, Spaiderman. If you look at it it's the exact same serps as at Google Italy.
So it appears they are using Google for international searches plus Adwords.

True, I checked right now.
I've been too lazy to control before posting yesterday.
By the way it's not a big deal, who uses international search in Arianna?
Still, it's another brick in the Google wall... scary!

Arianna/Libero now uses and promotes Google AdWords. Still a bit in testing phase, but in this page [arianna.libero.it] you can see the AdWords offer, still linking to Google select Italian page (pages in Italian, but the images are pretty clear even to those who don't understand the language).

That's right Ettore, obviously they are in some form of contract with Google under which they actively promote Adwords.
Haven't seen that before.

Ettore, can you answer my original question?
(second post in this Discussion)
Yesterday I started a campaign in Google but Arianna does not show adwords in any (known) form

Being the whole stuff in what looks like a testing phase, I'm still not 100% sure whether all or only some Ads appear in Arianna, and how long will this inconsistency last. I have been testing Arianna lately for some kwds related to my business and to some clients' businesses, and I suspect that Google AdWords appear for all searches made with Italian language kwds and using the default local ("in Italia") search, while the international ("nel mondo") search is still a bit inconsistent as per when Ads are shown.

Notice that G Ads are (for now? will this be the "final" format? who knows...) not shown the same way as they are in G. That is, instead of being placed in a box somewhere and clearly separated from "regular" SERps, they're placed at the top of SERPs with the same format as other results, and labelled as "Siti consigliati" (Suggested sites).

Try a search in Arianna and compare it with the Ads shown in the same search in G to see what I mean. Notice that the link "Vuoi inserire qui il tuo sito?" (Do you want to place your site here) appearing at the right of the "Siti consigliati" section in Arianna SERPs actually leads to the Arianna AdWords presentation, which as I said is currently just a feeder page for the Google AdWords Italian one residing under the Google.it site.

[edit reason] sorry Ettore snipped for reasons of equity ;) [/edit]

Ettore, I am sorry to destroy your sandcastle of hypotesis :)))
I am bidding for an italian keyword that does not fit your theory:

Ad appears here:
www.google.it/search?hl=it&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=keyword&lr=lang_it

Not here:
arianna.libero.it/search/abin/search?radiobutton=italia&query=keyword

[edit reason] sorry guys, we can't do specific searches and urls ¦ thanks! [/edit]

Ooops... sorry heini, I didn't think linking to SERPs was against the TOS, but I understand that I was too... "specific" in this case. Thanks for editing.

Uhm... for the purpose of having something "real" to compare, would it be OK to cite sets of keywords (without links to searches)?

>> I am sorry to destroy your sandcastle of hypotesis

Please do :) Any additional info/example (accepted by the Forum TOS) can help in understanding the situation. BTW, as I said they're still in a testing phase, thus any sandcastle of hypotesis will be subject to be distroyed as soon as they define a "final" standard.

I see.

In the meanwhile (got sucked into this...ah, curiosity killed the SEO...) I have started a benchmark on several different kwds, choosing them among 2-words ones and "pure Italian" terms (that is, not terms which can be spelled the same way in English, like city/products/etc. names), and some other mixed ones.

I am getting 50% results consistent with my original hypotesis, 30% results which lead me to think that only the "older" Google Ads are shown in Arianna, and 20% results where I see no understandable pattern.

I also spotted a few kwds for which I got a more "Google-like" ad (truly separate box on the right, not results in the same format as the other ones): try hotel umbria.

As a side note, I'm noticing that - when shown, and no matter whether they "correspond" to the G ones -- Ads in Arianna are limited to 3, even when Google shows more than 3, and they're not always shown in the same order as in Google (that is, not always the first 3 are shown).
