Thanks for bringing up Tricus.de - been seing the announcements for a couple of days now.
It's indeed a good start to be one of the default engines on Metager. It's amazing how much traffic this old meta engine still drives. It's a good meta engine, no doubt, but the appearance is so way off the standard interfaces I keep wondering who the target group is.
So Tricus. de: Tricus has built quite a few small engines over the years, why a new one? Where are you going with it?
-> heini:
i wonder, too:-) metager is still the top meta-search in germany. but sice they changed the startpage (after 82 years..hehe) the number of searches per day decreases.
:-)
Do you have some figures? Pageimpressions, pageviews or anything like that? I am curios about these, because there are many small SEs in Germany like Acoon, Abacho, Tigersuche, Rex and so on, which are not really important to know.
Could be, that I should have Tricus in view ... the new engine besides from Google!
Tricus.de offers a free inclusion with a system similar to AV (graphic code). But we also saw some free spidering activities from Tricus. So what's the policy with spidering?
Would you recommend to submit or does tricus pick up sites from ODP or other directories?
What about the Qualigo connection - for the new dutch divison tricus provides the backfill. Will this cooperation be extended to german or other Qualigo sites?
Usually a website that has good and many links from others appears sometime in indexes of SEs. Even Inktomi still picks up pages for free.
When I am interested in advertising with eSpotting, Overture, Qualigo, I am of course curios about the partners where my paid listings would occur. Thatīs the moment I want to know: what the hell is "Tricus"? Also thinkable is that I notice traffic from this SE in my logfiles.
BTW: I am not interested in comparing figures about traffic between Google and the rest, indeed, that is not important due to the bigness of Google. I only want to know whether itīs worth it to spend time on research for Tricus. (E.g. I donīt look anymore on Altavista, itīs too strange what results you can get.)
@pagelion: we have over 1 million german searches a day. most of them are from the meta searches, as you could imagine. we sent 20 reults per query to the meta searches. that might be intresting. so they get 2 pages in one resultset. the pageimpressions of tricus are not that intresting at the moment. we have no statisics for the netherlands so far, but we think we will get a big positive surprise at the end of the month.
@heini: yes, we recommend to submit sites to us. but you should know, that we use strong filter to prevent spam and other things. we have a very long blacklist of unwanted urls. tricus is very proud to have a nearly spam-free index. by the way: spam is a big problem in germany, but not in austria, switzerland and the netherlands. we follow external links to find new sites and in some cases we visit relevant directories.
We startet our partnership with qualigo in germany. so the backfill from qualigo in germany, austria and switzerland is tricus, too.
some other facts:
- 100 million sites indexed,
- 4 Mio sites crawled per day and server,
- special indexes like
-- university search www.campus-search.de,
-- music relevant sites www.i-booster.de,
-- german cities (coming soon),
-- news and documents, flash coming soon
- oldest search provider in germany (since 1996),
- image search provided by picsearch (sweden)

@troels_nybo_nielsen:
Your question was, if you should submit .dk domains to tricus? Yes, please feel free to submit your page, but be sure to submit only German pages, because we exclude anything else.
@jmcc:
definitely not:-) we are located in Austria, Switzerland, Netherland and Germany. That's it.
