As Nikolas has posted in Google [webmasterworld.com]
local Google sites are suffering from a serious malfunction: restricting searches to the (local) language does not work. When choosing the option "search in (local) language" results are drawn nevertheless from all of the web, i.e. all languages.

Is it a bug? It's happening since Sunday - anybody heard or read anything about it? Any statements from Google?

I have seen this happen on Google Japan a few times, but it seems to depend on the keywords used. I can't reproduce it all the time either. I just tried now and all my searches were coming back with Japanese language sites.

Interesting observation, Bill. I couldn't get language restricted results on Google.fr or .de for any keyword.

As of today however it seems to be fixed - after two days!
