The Google toolbar shows no PR (grey)

Is it safe to submit a site to the Euroseek directory?

The Google toolbar is greyed out. Can a site be penalized by Google to be in the EuroSeek directory?

I have just looked at Euroseek home page and it showed PR7.

The lack of a privacy policy concerns me.

Yeah, NFFC, that's right. But what could be the impact of it? They can't charge you after you're in. Yes, they can drop you. If you don't use your primary email adress while submitting, you could control/manage/delete incoming spam.

I can't see a privacy problem ... allthough i don't like the absence of a policy statement!

Thought you won't submit to euroseek because of PR worries...

There appears to be a few things missing from Euroseek. I didn't see a physical address, telephone numbers, Privacy policy or much else.

Still, Prvacy policy? Who cares, like yidaki says don't give 'em your real address.

I have an yahoo account soley for this type of thing and my mail setup just downloads all the junk once a day and trashes it ;)

Although saying that I gave them my real address as I saw no harm in it.

nwilson, you're right but personaly i don't like anon email adresses - ok, i've got my own mail server so it's no problem for me to set up a email adress that _could_ be trashed and the _possible_ spam could be blocked at the server side.

But all in all i don't think euroseek plans to spam people or will misbehave in privacy things anyway. No reason for me to think so just because they don't have a policy info at their site.

Maybe Euroseek jumps in this discussions to clarify the privacy thing? ;-)

I submitted to Euroseek.com in their directory, and saw that it was listed wrong, so resubmitted to the correct catagory that was added after I suggested it, and they dropped my site altogether...penalty?
who knows...emailed, but no response as yet.
Very odd, since they sent me a notice that my site was added...they never sent a note saying it was dropped just two days later.
Now I am reading about concerns about listing because of google?

There is no concern over google. Just the lack of a Privacy Policy.

I think you are seeing the greyed out directory for two reasons:

1. It is so new Google has not hit it; and,

2. They are running the directory in dynamic mode, not "built". They will probably start building when they have enough listings and traffic that they will need to save on bandwidth.
The "?" in the directory URL means it is a dynamic category page.

I doubt Google will bother crawling dynamic directories.

(BTW Inktomi's "Slurp" can and will spider dynamic directories if and when it wants too.)

Hi,

The privacy policy is going up asap. We will not be spamming or selling anyones names and email addresses. We apologize for not having it up.

Brad hit the nail on the head. The directory went live only a week ago. It is dynamic right now but we will built out shortly( a few weeks or so). I can only say that being in a humnan reviewed directory will only help your site. I really can't say anything more at this point.

lindavh your site was moved to the correct category that's why it was out of the directory. If you check now you will see it.
