does anybody have any good sources of market data/ websites on the european search market?

I suspect that you are looking for data on the usage of search engines and directories in Europe?

If this is the case, you can use Nielsen Netratings [nielsen-netratings.com] as a pointer. They provide monthly data on the most visited sites in most european countries. However this does not give you an accurate picture of how much the search engines are used, but it will give you an idea.

I would also suggest that you take a look a each of the country threads found here [webmasterworld.com]. You can dig into each country and learn a bit more on the most popular engines, and then ask us if you need more in depth information. We have a lot of local members, who know the local scenes pretty well.

Finally you can take a look at the Europe Overview [webmasterworld.com] - it should give you an idea of some of the demografics in Europe (how many people are online, languages, domains etc.)
