Breakthrough for mobile payment?

The market leaders in Germany's mobile sector, T-Mobile and Vodafone are setting up a platform for mobile payment.
The solution is based on technology from EOneGlobal, originally developed by Brokat, a dot-com crash victim.
T-Mobile and Vodafone together have some 60 Mill. customers in Germany and the UK, where the new solution will be out rolled end of the year.

Though this nothing more than announcements at the time being it sounds very promising.
Mobile payment could in a very credit card sceptical market like Europe (with the exception of UK) be the solution of choice for many online shoppers.

The other major competitors on the mobile market, E-plus and Viag Interkom, have already signaled to support the setting of such a de facto standard.

I agree. This could easily be a very good way to penetrate the countries where credit cards and online payment is non-existent. It would probably get more users to buy products etc. when they can use their mobile and their billing system to make the transaction.

Imagine being able to donate a few bucks to WMW via the mobile? ;)
