Y!.de currently asks users to evaluate their way of presenting directory listings. All questions clearly suggest a move towards the way Y!.com does it, which was introduced in preparation to the implementation of paid listings.

Will we soon have Overture on T-online, AV.de and Yahoo.de? If so, Google would be virtually the only engine worth mentioning without paid listings over here.

Paid listings..
Well, they're comming out of the woodwork everywhere these days. If yahoo.com does it with 'success' why shouldn't they implement on their regional sites also?

Conor, as I said this is just speculating. Right now Yahoo.de would deny any plans for paid listings.
With the current explosion of paid listings in Germany, leaving Google the only free major engine, plus the need for additional revenue it would be astonishing if Y!.de would not take this route.

Submitted a site in July 2001.

Listed in these days (free listing).

Well congrats Angiolo
Good to hear freebies get in at all. Half a year is not exactly what one would wish for though.
How competitive is your cat? Not an overly crowded cat I suppose?

What I'm really wondering is how important an Yahoo.de directory listing will be in a future where those cats are dominated by paid entries. Traffic does not come from those listings directly - it's the boost it used to give for Linkpop.

How long till Google does reduce the weight from a Y! listing?

Hi Heini!

>How competitive is your cat? Not an overly crowded cat I suppose?>

Not too much competitive!

I requested two categories. one that has a bit of competition (10 listings) and another one with just one listing.

They did not place the site in the main requested category.
They placed the site in the second category (so that there are two sites now) and
they created a new Category in Regional->localities: only one site listed!

I am still happy because I noticed that in the German market you have to pay for several search engines if you want an express submission. Another engine requires an annual fee.
