Remco asked: [webmasterworld.com]
I would love to submit to Yahoo, but this would be only worth the money if I can give a dutch description, and about that I am still not sure, anybody some experience. In their rules it is sayed it should be english?

Currently Y! maintains portals in 8 Euro countries, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The Benelux countries, strong Internet users, East European countries, South European countries - they all canīt get listings in local Y! sites.

While the vast majority of listings in Y!'s Netherlands cats have english descriptions I saw some entries, more than a handful, with a dutch description.
Is this possible for other languages too? What are the chances - any experiences from our Euro members?

Tried many times, no luck with Dutch sites.
I never paid for a Dutch site review as it is against their policy to accept sites in Dutch only.
OTOH, several competitors did make it in there, often with dutch titles and descriptions. I'm sure it is very hard when you don't pay, i'm under the impression that they may allow dutch titles and descriptions if you pay even though it is not according to their policy.

Some very poor editing work in the dutch categories, sites with no description, and english and dutch descriptions mixed up. Many one-or-two-listing categories. I saw several category changes in the dutch section over the year, but little new additions in general.

Some new listings received dutch descriptions. More dutch listings get a description saying something like 'in dutch' only, not even mentioning the subject of a site. This might indicate that the editor does not understand what the site is about, does not care, and the customer has paid....

I wrote about this to Yahoo several times, asking them to please clarify their policy for dutch sites, no reply.

Slightly OT, but I have a free listing in Looksmart via Zeal in English. I am getting quite a few referrals from The Netherlands where the description has been translated into Dutch (thankyou Looksmart). Does Yahoo do something similar??

I once ran into a few sites listed with danish title and descriptions on Yahoo.com. I sent the editor who listed my site an email alerting him about the issue. They quickly removed one listing and updated another with english titel - thanked me for it :)

Damian, have you to tried url-support@yahoo-inc.com?
