Ilse ends negotiations with Fast

Dutch marketleader Ilse ended negotiations with Fast (All the web) after long talks in Oslo. Earlier, they decided to drop Google as possible partner.

Ilse's new CEO Paul Molenaar says that his target group has 'the depth of a surfboard' and doesn't need sophisticated technology.

Ilse will show search results of their own 2000 Startpagina-daughters more prominently then other sources. They will also start with paid indexing.

Thanks, good info Voelspriet

Itīs interesting to see a local major wrestling with the question of how to deal with the international majors growing stronger all the time in Europe.
T-online in comparison took the opposite route: they shut down their own engine in favour of Fast. They felt they needed more advanced search technology to satisfy users needs.
Ilse as marketleader in Netherlands will face strong competition from Google. Also itīs hard to believe that Fast wonīt come in on another big portal sooner or later.
May have been a wrong decision, considering the dutch are generally pretty advanced internet users.

It's a shame that Ilse ended conversating with Google. Just as Google Ilse responds quickly to new submissions and the search engine contains little spam.

Only bad thing about Ilse is that it displays a lot of disappeared sites...

Hi voelspriet.

Nice info. Just had a client wanting to know more about Ilse.nl and inclusion options. Now I know some good stuff ;)

Hi pgsbs. Welcome to European Forum. We're always pleased to have local people here :)

Ilse says on their add url page [info.ilse.nl] that submission will be up and running by October, right?

Can you maybe add more info to this - we clearly can see that inclusion option is off right now. Wonder how to get listed in their Startpagina daughters?

%#*$&#$ ILSE!!!!

Today Ilse's site went live and I think we can remove the site from this board as it is no longer a SE anymore! It only looks at the startpagina daughters and their own webdirectory (from which the submission site disappeared)

Rumbas to submit at a daughter you first have to find a site that matches your site. The complete list can be found at www.pagina.nl

If you have a carsite for example you go to auto.pagina.nl (auto is dutch for car) and down under you can sent a e-mail to the webmaster of the site. Pritty much the same as like in dmoz. The site you submit has to have good content as it is edited by a human being (this is why they say they are so good) but question is if they are really that good, some sites don't update that much. Throw some money at them will help :-)

Drop me a e-mail if you need some help.

The only good news is that there are still some things more important as I found out today so at the end a good listing should be possible :-) But for now, I am nowhere! All the lokal idiots are above me. And I think they will not index that fast anymore, but we have to wait.

Remco
you will have noticed voelsprietīs info above. Perhaps we should wait and see how things turn out on Ilse before jumping to conclusions.
Meanwhile, I just went to an add url page:
[aanmelden.ilse.nl...]

including AV style graphic submission code

Ilse CEO Molenaar mentioned to emerce.nl they will not go for paid indexing after all.

Article in dutch [emerce.nl] oct 17th.

Also mentioned in the same article:

Paid links on the pagina.nl pages (15 per 300) are ranked below none-paid listings in Ilse serps according to Bert Wiggers, who is in charge of the change at Ilse and CEO of startpagina.nl
