That is an interesting read. I wonder what the resulting database will be: will they go with a completely lycos-like algorithm, or will it be results like what Spray gives now, or will they rework everything into a whole new animal?
It will be interesting to find out.

Just checked lycos.se. They are still powered by DirectHit. But Lycos Inc recently bought 5 percent of Fast Search and uses it in the US, so me thinks Lycos Europe will switch to Fast soon and that that is what we will see on Spray's European portals. Seems logical and Fast has more European pages indexed than anyone else, so far as I can see.

Lycos-Europe said just a week ago ( around the 20th of sep) that it will cooperate with FAST, too, like Lycos-USA do.
German Lycos is not very alive...only one update in the middle of july. The first results they get are from Directhit, and I expect they turn over to FAST.
