ODP submission

They visited a site but didn't index it

I saw ODP in the logs of a site I am monitoring, over a month ago, but they haven't indexed the site. Does this mean they have probably rejected it? Should I contact them or be endlessly patient? (it's been 3 months).

I have had the same thing happen. However over a month ago an editor assured me my site was in the queue to be included (not in the cat I want though). So it could be possible yours is in the queue also.

Thanks - is it a good or bad idea to contact the category editor?

It is poaaible that an editor visited your site and moved it to unreveiwed in another cat in which case you would have to wait for another visit.

Well I didn't contact them, they notified me, but I have read on the ODP forum that it is OK to e-mail the cat editor after three months. They say to be polite and to the point, and most editors will reply.

DMOZ log file probabilities

editors/editunrev2.cgi usually means the editor has checked the quene but page is still unedited

site=160832&cat=whatever the cat submitted usually mean accepted and added

site=48357&cat=whatever the new cat submitted&chainsaw means your page was moved by the editor to a more appropriate cat but the new cat can be seen in your log file.

the last one doesn't mean accepted, yet.

namniboose,
have you checked to see when the cat you submitted to was last updated ? My site was reviewed and just as I was starting to get antsy it was added on the next update of the catagory. I visited the support forum at dmoz and was advized some editors will review a block of sites and then update afterwards especially if it is a large or busy catagory.

[webmasterworld.com...]

As they said, then it appeared in another cat 1 level deeper.

Is it the site in your profile?

No, it's not the site in my profile.

No need to wait 3 months to email an editor. If its a busy cat with a big backlog, it might help to email at the time of submission or soon thereafter.

This was in the logs:

[dmoz.org...]

and I see that the category hasn't been updated since mid May.

Would a polite call to action work in this case?
