We paid to have a site listed with Looksmart, but only learnt about Zeal.com long after that. The site is very big and has quite a few different subjects and a lot of those are educational and good source of information. I am now trying to get listed in Zeal on the non-commercial parts of the site. I took three tests last night before getting through and just now trying to submit the site but the error message I got is "Sites and pages from this domain cannot currently be added to the directory by community members". Is this because we have one listing on the commercial site, and it will not let me submit any other pages from the same site? Is there anyway to go round this.

Seems to be that once a site is listed through the paid submission program, it can't be listed free through Zeal even if it is in a non commercial category.

Skibum, thanks. My listing on Looksmart has not brought in much traffic (about 2 visitors a day out of 700!. I wouldn't mind removing it and I am not happy with their description on the site anyway. If I remove it, will I then be able to get listed with Zeal?. And also will it be possible to have more than one listing with Zeal since we have quite a few different educational subjects on the site and DMOZ are very happy to list them.

I have had no problems in getting multiple listings for different sections within Zeal. Providing you follow the guidelines and the different sections are suitably different it is quite easy.

Cheers

if the content's good there's no reason you can't get lots of multiple listings...the one sticking point is if you paid for a LS listing previously. in that case you're probably out of luck, at least for that domain.
