Link sites using ODP information?

I've found sites that look like they're ODP related, but not quite.

I've found a couple of similar "links" sites that appear to be related to ODP somehow, although not exactly. Can someone clue me in on what these are?

[121zone.com ]
[galahlinks.com ]
[armedforces.net ]

The reason I ask is because they index a site of mine that used to be in DMOZ but has since been cut from DMOZ (no explanation why). So I assume it's not a direct DMOZ feed, because my site wouldn't be showing up.

But I'm curious as to what they are, exactly ... and are they doing me any good?

You are right. They are using ODP; see:

[dmoz.org...]

The RDF dump seems not to be upgraded.

Hawkgirl,

If the site in your profile is the one that you believe has been cut from ODP don't despair, it it is still published in Business/Industries/Telecommunications/Communications_Providers/

Too bad it's not that easy. I couldn't honestly begrudge them if they dropped a dupe site.

Unfortuantely it was a totally separate site. One day they had it up (I didn't submit it!) and I was getting incredible traffic and sales ... it was practically a miracle.

Then a month later it was gone.

But it's still indexed in those ODP offshoots.

Weird.

Thanks for the thought, though.

Many, many sites use the ODP data; some of these use it once - the day they launch - and never bother to update. They just want to 'give the impression' of being a directory, to get traffic, but can't be bothered to do the work.

others do update, but often once every few months ...

Nice to see that someone gains from their tardiness, though I'm sure you'd rather be in the current one!
