DMOZ listing

Is more than one allowed?

We are listed in one category. Can we submit to another category for which we provide a product or service or will it be considered spam?

Usually one "business" listing and one "regional" listing is the rule. Only the editors can decide :)

When submitting a site, the submitter is asked to find the _one_ best place for it. That should be a hint.

DMOZ Editors rules do not restrict sites from ONLY being in one directory. A rule of thumb is to not submit to something like

/catagory1/

and then submit to

/catagory1/widgets/

I have sites listed in multiple catagories because the content on the pages submitted follows directory with the additional catagories i submit to which are not related to each other

/dogs/

I suspect EliteWeb has managed to 'bend the rules'.

in general, the site should be in 'the most appropriate place'; with a well designed site, an average editor can reassign quite easily if you submit in error.

If your site is a bit of a mixture (eg cars and dogs) then you might (for a while) get away with a double listing.

But then, I'd guess such a site would need all the help it could get ;)

Sites can have a 'Topical' and a 'Regional' listing if that's appropriate, and it very often is - but do read the regional rules, especially if you don't like including a snailmail address!

I know of many sites that have multiple listing, including this one.
At one time there was a site that had over 140 listings, this same site now has only 44 listings.

Multiple listings are very exceptable.

1. Regionals

2. Industry related

3. Products

4. Services

5. Subject related - added value information

As long as there is diversity ... you are helping visitors of OPD to quickly find specific content.
