Maybe I'm a little slow at finding things but I just stumble onto this search enging (directory listing) any more its hard to tell.

www.iboogie.com

1. Uses dmoz category structure.
2.Text oriented (didn't see any graphics)
3. Categories & sub-categories listed on list frame.
4. Allows user to select the resultes to return from MSN, FAST, Yahoo, Google, Alta Vista, Excite.

Has anybody seen this one? Looks like it might be pretty decent?

I think it is much better than webcrawler/excites meta search. The web tips explorer is real nice too.

I noticed a bug in it though, when I selected all search engines, changed the time out to 60 seconds and the results to 100, it came back with an error code 79.

I think it still needs a little work, but in my opinion and EXCELLENT start.

Very clean, easy to navigate, easy to read, it has all the characteristics of becoming an excellent tool.

You have to check out the Boogie TV too!

<added>Just discovered it has paid advertisments from www.qksrv.net redirect to www.cj.com<added>

Very nice layout -- 8/10 for usability.

But way out of date. For the categories I know best, I'd say thye web directory is based on a DMOZ dump prior to Nov 2001. That's even older than the Google cache!

Searches I've tried return relevant results, but the total hits is 50% to 70% of the total Google can find.

I have to disagree with you victor.
One of our site didn't come up until March of this year. Plus the Looksmart listing didn't appear until April. So the DB must be newer than Nov 01.

Possibly the the middle April?

It is possible that different branches are different ages. But the stuff I looked at is old.

For me, the deafult seems to rank sites according to their listings in yahoo and MSN. The MSN thing especially does tend to make for fairly uninspiring SERPS. I really didnt realise how bad MSN really had become in the last 3 months especially until this inspired me to do a few searches using it.

I like this directory, I didn't know it but it sure looks nice. Deserves to compete with DMOZ.

Did anyone else notice that the top 2-3 results for most searches on this directory are commission junction affiliate text links? They aren't separating these results out as advertising, these appear to be objective results. Very Fishy.

On of my friends is a WD and uploaded a new client's site in January of this year. Under one of the keywords, it is number 5 so that is new material showing up......

BooGy, booGer, boogie, eye booger, eye boogie, heh funny name in itself.

Seems to be alright but I dont like the layout of it, i felt so framed in. (heh i dont even know if they used frames) but still squished.
