it would be interesting to see what we have all written to looksmart concerning their recent policy changes... i suppose we're allowed to post what we have sent but obviously not what they have replied with (not that they have to me yet!)

here's the messasge i sent...

...." how can I claim back all the money I have just paid you when you knew fully that the listings terms were going to change full circle !! I paid $199 to change my description - then about a week later you can change it for a lot less !!! This surely is not fair after i've already paid $299 in the past to first list the site and pay $29 per month and which in your own email states "The Site Promote service will take effect within 48 hours of your order. Your site will be promoted in search each month until you stop your promotion, and a charge from "LookSmart Site Submit" will appear on your credit card statement each month that your site is promoted." There was no mention here that you're going to charge me on top of this !! This is a scandal if you expect me to pay for the sudden increase in clicks i'm getting - its funny how since the CPC has started i'm getting a large increase in visits than before ! - Can you provide me with reports on the clicks i've had so I can prove they are genuine and not from a spider or someone frauding the system?

...."

I sent them a letter about dropping two listings (paid around $300+ in the last year and a half) and they politely recommended that I add money to my account.

What goes around comes around.

Looksmart is an American company.

I am amazed there has not been a new site grouping angry Looksmart users sueing Looksmart until they go down under.

Surely some lawyer must see a lot of money and publicity in this?..

My letter to them:

My site has just been dropped from LookSmart's database because my 100 'free' clicks have been used up.

I must say, it might be worth $45/month for 300 clicks (suggested amount, which is about right) but because of the outrageous way you are trying to implement this, I just can't bring myself to go for your pay-per-click program.

LookSmart has not been very smart at all in treating its customers with such disrespect. We have no idea what you plan to coerce us into next! I would imagine MSN will eventually stop using your results as they become increasingly depleted and irrelevant.

Well, we've pretty much beaten this topic so far into the ground, they are giving "heads up" in Peking.

Unless anyone has anything new to add, lets just close up the Looksmart topics and move on to more productive efforts.

'they are giving "heads up" in Peking'

Is that heads up for the executioner Brett?

I believe it's probably a reference to the childhood story about digging a hole so deep, one ends up in China. Upside down, if I recall... :)

Ah! That reference was lost on me because my childhood story was about digging a hole to Australia! (I'm English).

it continues and I get a new response today after a message from myself about fraudulent clicks/.... without quoting it directly, they basically said they dont track clicks according to which search term generated them
