DMOZ editor asking for $$ for site to be listed

DMOZ editor wanting $ via PayPal for my site to be listed

Hi,

I submitted a site to DMOZ, and the editor emailed me back stating my site contained more "selling" than "content". In actuality, I have over 350 pages of content, with only about a handful of pages having any sort of "selling" on them (in the form of site advertising info and original content eBooks). The only affiliate links are some books through Amazon I recommended pertaining to certain articles.

The editor also stated he can list me in any catagory with any description, if I just paypal him $50 to his paypal acct. What is going on? Is he just trying to get money under the table from me? I thought DMOZ was free. My site follows all DMOZ guidelines, and there is not doubt in my mind it should be added as a useful resource.

What can I do from here? I don't think it is fair that I should be paying some editor $$ for getting my site listed when it should have been added in the first place.

Please help!

Send an e-mail to staff@dmoz.org describing what happend to you (including the name of the editor, and the category), and I'm sure they will get to the bottom of this.
