Dear All,
I know that AOL search result come from Open directory and Inktomi, but after I checked I frond that they didn’t come from them, but they came from LookSamrt and Inktomi.

What happen with AOL? How can I optimize at AOL.com?

maimax, it's important to be listed with ODP no matter what, but for AOL you optimize for Inktomi. There are a number of good threads in the Pay for Spidering forum about that.

AOL doesn't use Looksmart. The 3 you see at the top are Overture.

This is because Looksmart also displays Ink, way below it's own

Question
dmoz finally has my site listed. Inktomi has graciously accepted big bucks from me. Why is it that my site doesn't show up in aol's directory under the classification dmoz has given me?

AOL will get around to indexing your site in due time. If it's on the Open Directory, then good things are ahead. You'll get extra Google popularity credit, and you'll be listed in AOL's directory and search results. Rule one in seo - have patience. Rule two - go slow.

It actually goes both ways. The inktomi database contains quite a few Looksmart descriptions. Don't ask me how they got in there, but due to their "unique" style they are fairly easy to spot.

I also thought that AOL had started to use Looksmart results directly a few weeks ago, as one of my sites got returned that way. But I just checked on hotbot, and it's exactly identical there.

Along with all this information that you guys are sharing..i wanted to also share this one more information, actually you can call it a question? ;) I would be glad if someone can answer this question :)

Why is it that AOL Dial up and AOL IE show different results. What i optimize for Inktomi does come up on AOL IE but not on AOL Dial up..Does AOL IE and AOL Dial up have different ALgo's and if it does, what is the difference in both of them?
