Although, I am facing this for the 1st time but i am sure that you all must have seen this happen before.

I was browsing thru AOL and typed in a specific keyword for which i could see my sites in AOL thru I.E. and other browsers...

but when i logged in from an AOL account and thru AOL dial up service when i typed in the same keyword..my sites don't even exist...

are there 2 different database for dial up service and thru any other regular browser...

It would be great if somebody can help me solve this confusion

Thanks in advance!! :)

Well there are at least two DBs for AOL: [aolsearch.aol.com...] and [search.aol.com...]

While they both include Inktomi listings, they run on distinctly different algorithems so it makes sence that results on one would differ from the other.

Thanks keyplyr! :)

But i was wondering what is the different algo that they have? They both are AOL search, why would they alter their algo for both search results?

When I'm traveling outside of the U.S. I see quite different resutlts that I think are based on ip. When I use a dial-up from out of the country, I seem to get Ink's ultraspam database. When I check the results via a U.S. based proxy server, it seems to show Ink's BOW results.

>> results... differ

Hmmm.... I just tried the 2 aol search urls that keyplyr posted.

On the first one my site came up number 45, on the second it came up number 5.

I choose search url number 2.
