The way I look at it is that if it stays as it is now then ODP will not have fresh content and nobody will want to use their data anyway.

I have given up submitting and also given up trying to be an editor it just seems pointless.

There are some good editors there but sadly they are being overshadowed by the bad.

any comments?

Never had a site rejected, the vast bulk are added in a fair time frame and they are free!

If you are having trouble with getting sites added then I would in the first instance reassess your submission strategy.

<<<<I would in the first instance reassess your submission strategy.>>>>>

I have followed the guidelines as closely as I can, the sites I am trying to submit are full of content ( nothing that might be classed as adult or alike ) but the category I am submitting to is very competitive.

When I say competetive I don't mean there are loads of outstanding sites I mean there is money to be made from this category.

So to round up ....

If I submit the clean, well presented, content full site in the manner depicted by the guidelines ( which I have actually printed and read I don't know how many times ), used a spell checker just in case :), the category has sites with the same theme, and I haven't even heard a word from anybody for 8 weeks.

I have submitted 3 times in 2 months and not so much as had a " your site is unsuitable because......".

Too frequent, leaves you nowhere to go now, you either wait or become a pest. imho

diddlydazz,
I have a similar problem except the site is all ready listed.
I had listed it four years ago. The domain changed, the listing has lead to a page that is a simple 404 for two years now.
I have submitted the change three or four times a year, I have written the editor, I have written the staff.
I have asked for the URL change and have even asked for the whole listing to be dropped out of desperation, as I found myself competing with myself and losing to a 404 page.
At this point I do see the humor in all of this and if stale listings and dead links is what they want they are right on track.

I agree but the ODP could be and is in some respects an extremely useful tool both for SEOs and users alike.

It is just a shame it has got to the point where nobody really seems to care anymore except the few that are doing it for the right reasons.
