Check your site in many browsers [versions old & new] before you submit to the Directories.

It is possible that some editors will add your site but then add a note at the end of your description such as:

[Site may not be viewable with all browsers.]

That is only true if the editor bothers to check or it doesn't work for the browser that they are using.

A majority of editors use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape 4.0 or higher.

But for the sake of the user, browser compatability is a must otherwise you'll lose instant traffic.

Only a small portion of editors will use added phrases o descriptions, some include:

Graphic intense (read: slow loading)

Requires Macromedia Flash (read: no skip intro provided for the nonsense splash screen)

Requires Java or JavaScript (read: you can't navigate site without java or javascript)

Requires Registration (read: all the good stuff is for members only)

Thanks, I've lurked for long enough. I had to speak my mind sometime I guess, as I often do inside dmoz's sacred walls. ;)

Health [dmoz.org] is as busy as ever.

as a brand new dmoz editor (you may applaud *grin*) I'm planning on reviewing sites in Opera 5 then giving a quick once over in NS4 and IE5

I figured that since Opera is largely the most standards compliant of the browsers I currently have that it was the fairest place to start
