How to object to an ODP listing that doesn't follow guidelines?

Competing against keyword loaded title in same category...

One of my clients' sites is competing against an ODP listing that has a title longer than my description. From what I can tell, the keyword rich title is the main reason that site ranks well, and the title is definitely not the company name.

I'm apprehensive about objecting to the category editor, though. It took months to get listed, and it's a category I anticipate submitting to again. Any suggestions about how to handle this?

Write the editor of the category. No action? Write the editor of the category above. No action? Write the editor of the category above. (eg: loop, see loop)

Re-submit the site with the same description it has now, but with a title that actually reflects what the title of the site or name ofthe company is?

I would email the category editor as Brett suggested and query them about the situation. If you meet with resistance, and the site you are referring to is indeed listed incorrectly (sometimes sites submit and then after being listed change the information originally submitted such as the title) then move on up the ladder. The editor may not even be aware of the situation as many of us are very bogged down with thousands of submissions to take care of. Be tactful and not accusitory and you will probably be happy with the results.

I agree with Jill and Brett Tabke, the best choice is to write the editor of the category explaining the situation, may be he has been out from ODP for a period and so he hasn't checked the category. If he'll not answer you pass the ball at the upper category owner.

And I may add:
- stop loop at the 3rd "no action found"
- look at the Top category and find a meta or editall (compare with [dmoz.org...]
- write him/her using Jill's good suggestion.
