How long does it usually take for newly submitted site to be reviewed. I have submitted my site last night and already today I saw in my log files that someone from ODP was looking at my site. From what I understand editors in any category are often people who have interest in that category. How can one get site listed in that situation? Is the way to go to become editor?

If are wanting to become editor, so you can list your web site - I don't think that is a very wise move.

1. There are tons of Meta and Editall's [ask Laisha she is one of them], if they will notice any mis-use of editors position, then you can bid farewell to your editor's position.

2. Editors at DMOZ are generally people who have personal interest in specific categories and hence they apply to become editors. Also, many of them do not have any web site.

3. If you have submitted your web site with a *Genuine* a description *without keyword stuffing and related to your web site* and if your web site not already listed under same or different URL in that category and has original content, than you can be sure that it will be listed under appropriate category. I cannot tell you when, cuz, it depends on editors, as they are voluteers and also have a life to live. Wait for 2 - 4 weeks [at DMOZ it says several weeks] and if it is not in there, than re-submit it.

By submitting a web site to appropriate category.
Editors generally do not use *competition* as factor for determining web site's eligibility in the directory.

Thanks for the insightful answer. The reason for my posting was the fact that some editor was having a look at my site not even a full 24 hours after I have submitted it.

That person might be online during that time, and was just doing what he/she was suppose to do.
