ODP World categories

How much visibility do they get?

Do ODP World/ categories get picked up by search enignes around the world that focus and index sites in languages other than English?

If so what are the popular engines, does anybody use em'?

Short answers:
a)Yes!
b)Yes, probably half of the world's online population.

Medium answer: Read the first post in this discussion [webmasterworld.com]. Note the top engines and directories mentioned. Go to the country discussions where they are found and check for references to ODP.

Exhaustive answer: Check the first post in each of the 40 country threads in the European forum for OPD references. Note any traffic figures present. Then check the Asia forum in the same way.

I have a site focusing on ecommerce in India but is registered in California. I have submitted a few times to ODP regional India in the ecommerce category but havent had any luck yet. I have tried 3 times over a few months and have now contacted one of the higher up editors. My question is, am I just banging my head againsnt a brick wall or can a site not registered in India be accepted to an Indian regional category? I had been assuming that as long as the content was applicable to India that it may be accepted. Please let me know if I have misunderstood. Thanks.
