I am not sure if somebody has already noticed this or not, but was wondering if someone can help me out?

I noticed that AOL is changing results based on the time. I mean, I checked the ranking for my web site and it was ranked # 4 during the day time, then I checked it again at about 2 am and it was gone down to # 42 and when I checked it next day about 10:00 am, it was again # 4. And yes, I tried checking the ranking of other sites and found almost similer results - but well I might be too tired to see the correct results - can anybody please throw more light on it?

I saw your question last nite and checked on a few of my own pages, they were right where I expected to see them. Rechecked this morning and they haven't budged...

I'd guess that you caught AOL doing an update to the area your site is listed in and it will probably settle down within a day or two. AOL caches a good deal more then most ISPs and serves pages from their cache. Another possibility is that you simply received results from an older cache while they were doing maintenance on their servers.

This is interesting because about a week ago AOL seemingly did an update. My once #1 site fell to #5. I just looked again because of your posts and it looks like they've done another re-indexing. That's two in about a weeks period of time. Considering they have only been updating about every month, if we're lucky, this is amazing. I'll have to keep an eye on this. I would love to see AOL get back to their twice monthly updates. So many new sites are added to ODP every day it's a shame the web community doesn't get wind of them through AOL until months after they are added!
