Hi there,

My sites got finally listed on dmoz, I had submitted this site at dmoz 6 months back and forgot about the same. Just a week ago, when I check the dmox, my site was'nt listed yet, so I sent the email to the editor of the category and after the few email exchange, I got my sit listed today.

Now, I am already seeing the incoming link increasing. Now, hoping the SE's will indexed it and will see my site go Up on serps.

Keeping my finger cross guys :)

Just wanted to tell the guys who havent got listed on dmoz. There's is the light at the end of tunnel.

I would attribute the increase in backlinks to a coincidence, it's too soon for your link to be picked up by the dmoz clones.

Unless that dmoz link is your only link, or that it is way up in the category tree where pages still carry a bit of PR, you will notice no difference in the SERPs.

There are other, more important factors at play.

And imagine how much faster would it be if you become editor of that category* (ok, it could be some bigger category in question and for which you couldn't apply directly**), sure you would need to list some of your competitors but it sure beats waiting 6 months if your impatient. ;-)

* Ivan's editor recruitment tactic #42 ;-)

** In that case you can take some other category you like (history, culture etc.) and move up the ladder I have also discovered a gold mine in creating new categories since it can give big boost to your edits especially in World categories where many are neglected or don't exist at all and I can add 40-50 new sites over night (ok, not much to do after that since that is probably all of them ;-))!

So to be short everyone reading this who want there sites listed at DMOZ (no spammers please) considered yourself drafted and you have to keep applying until you get in and for every rejected application you have to do 200 push ups! >:-)

Well guys, bit of anti-climax here, I had got listed on dmoz when I check the site, but the very next day it was off the site.Unfortunately, the very day, my hosting firm were doing some revamping and my site went down, may be that might be the reason for which I was delisted.

Anyways I am trying to contact the editor and will update u on that.

Well Ivan I had applied for the editor but got no response. Just waiting for to become one and will get all my site listed. :) :) :)

Yep, robozilla likes to do that, if it happens often its time to look for new host. >:-)

Well DMOZ is famous for its speed but then again that's the price of volunteer labor - its not like we are dealing with life or death situations despite some persons thinking they are. ;-)))

Use the time to pile up the links to cool sites missing from DMOZ because getting in is easy part advancing is hell and you'll need few hundred edits just to advance to some minor category from totally obscure one for which had to apply to get in. >:-)
