I'm setting up a directory and am curious whether I should use a new domain or a subdomain from an established domain.

A few years ago I registered two very nice domain names, one in Canada, one in the US. I recently put up a directory on the canadian domain and the SE's like it just fine. However in the meantime, I put up a forum that's just starting to grow, on the american domain. (I'm asking because the domain names are relevant, like www.industry-agents.com kind of thing).

Now the kinks are out of the directory software, I want to proceed with the American version. Should I dump the directory onto forum.my-american-domain-name.com? Or would it be better to just start with a brand new domain?

I'd start with a brand new domain.... Dumpinga directory onto a forum model is confusing as to the site's real purpose.

I used to get many people query what my site was about, even though the site name was clear and even mentioned this 5 or 6 times in plain view. You know people can be so thick and miss what's right in front of them hehehe. So be 100% perfectly clear about what your site is.
