I run a free speciality search engine and have been trying to get listed in the Yahoo directory for years.

We were the 1st to provide specific search functionality, our source list is larger than those listed and we actually work (unlike most listed in the same directory). Our purpose was exactly what the directory name states however they have some sites listed that do not meet the directory name.

I even sent yahoo a listing of dead links for the directory, which they removed, however they recently added another search site that does not even work. Meanwhile we are still not a member of the directory.

Anyone know who at yahoo to contact to find out why we have not been listed? I considered handing them $300 but we are a free site and I get the feeling I would be throwing my money away considering the above.

You have to pay to get it.

Pay. Even excellent sites have to do it.

I have a free listing in the Y directory, because like yours the site I was sending is free...

It took nine months, but it's there.

I finally broke down and decided to spend the $300 so well see what happens.

I noticed when I first tried to use the paid submission link it came up to a blank page after I logged in with my yahoo ID. I tried again and it let me submit but some how turned out to be the free link, crap.

I refeshed the page again and tried. This time it let me do the paid but I hope they do not think I am spamming them from the first submission and then the one from last week.
