I have been evaluating many scripts and so far have narrowed it down to two. Links SQL from Gossamer and Powerseek from Focalmedia...

Any suggestions? Should I be evaluating any other?

Why are there any others?

There are others like Hyperseek, I don't like that it has been tailored to be a PPC. In Link, which I feel doesn't have a diversity of plugins.

Focalmedia and Gossamer seem to be the most versatile. Do you have any experience with either?

Focalmedia and Gossamer are the most versatile of the directory programs available.

Both Focalmedia and Gossamer are good products and give value for money and you will not get the same quality from a free directory script, they do exactly as it says on the box and a little bit more with your own imagination.

With Powerseek you have the option to show as much information regarding site submissions or as little as you require, if you don't want PPC results you don't need to or if you don't require to show the date of the submission, url, rating or voting buttons etc you do not need to.

Everything is customisable to suit your site, you have to construct the directory structure yourself which given the current amount of directories which seem to have copied the same structure this is a good thing for the long term making your directory individual.

Has anyone used any of the "Extreme" search engines? I'm looking into "Extreme Corporate" which runs about $400.00 ...any suggestions on this or any other of these products?

You may want to take a look at K-Links. It's what i use for my affiliate directory and it's highly customizable and SEO'd. I'm assuming you already took a look through HotScripts.

There are really a lot of directory scripts out there, gossamer as far was very popular and widely used.

K-Links is good but there is no comparison to Gossammer. Good Work Alex.

Its just ironic that i now find a thread about Gossamer being one of the most versatile of the directory programs interesting.
