Have you ever edited a directory that 'wasn't yours to keep'?

What inspired, motivated, lead you to do that? How did it work out?

You did it for love? You did it for money? You did it for a friend? You did it to make the world a better place? You thought it might lead to something else?

There was the possibility of some gain or advantage? Did it work out?

You stopped at some point? Why? Too much work and not enough benefit?

Maybe there aren't eight million stories in The Naked City, but there's got to be at least a dozen, or maybe there's too many woes and a lot to not talk about? Maybe this is a realm in which opening up invites the uninvited?

Why do you - or someone you know - do it? If you or someone you know is doing it - supporting a non-owned directory - did the reasons you/he/she signed up to do it change over time?

Was it the quality of the project that drew you/him/her in and did that quality, in the end, materialize?

What would it take for you to 'do it again'?

What does a directory have to offer to a potential editor/contributor to have it make sense?
