This is starting to drive me crazy. I have a new information site (non-commercial) and there two categories which are relevant for my industry, yet the editors continue to update the site with giving me a listing. It's been over 4 months.
Any suggestions?

Submit & forget about it. If its a good site it'll get listed at some point.

Could take a few more days....could take a year....
As skibum says just forget about it for now.

submit and forget.. I submitted a year ago.. appeared in a different category than I submitted to 6 months ago.. new editor for that category deleted the entry since it wasn't the right category anyways.
so now I got to resubmit and hope it gets caught(no editor for the relevant category).
my link is still in various dmoz mirrors and the google directory but will probably disappear the next refresh.

Code, I'd guess that the editor moved it to a more relevant category for review by that editor rather than delete it.
Keep an eye on the more relevant category and it might turn up.

I have a similar problem. I was listed in DMOZ and the Yahoo directory 7 years ago under a regional category for the city where I was living at the time. (I think it was 7 years). I moved 5 years ago. I had to contact DMOZ numerous times to get them to change my location. TO date, Yahoo hasn't. They did finally change the URL to the new domain. I am unable to get listed in DMOZ or Yahoo for anything but the regional listing (excpet in one case). I give up.

You have unrealistic expecations of DMOZ.
I don't think you understand the goals of the directory.
