Sites in ODP that no longer do what they say in their listing

Can you report sites that don't fit their category?

There are quite a few sites in the ODP that seem to have changed since their original entry to the directory.
For example I can think of sites that started as local information and community sites that are now nothing but affiliate sites. What's more I've had trouble getting legitimate non-commercial sites turned down in these categories.
Is there any procedure for reporting such sites?

Yes, you can click that little button down @ the bottom that says become an editor. And help clean it up!

Try over at the ODP Public Forum. There's an area to notify editors of hijacks and inappropriate content.

You can send an update request directly for the site entry and write the details in the update notes too.

Thanks.
I might consider becoming an ODP editor when I retire!

Yes, please report such sites. "Update URL" works, but it doesn't get the automatic priority that we wish such reports got. So the forum is probably the best solution.

I reported one of my own sites three times with no joy so I stopped worrying about it. Its actually a directory now and has been for more than three years but its listed as something quite different. (Sigh)

I can imagine it must tick off several of my competitors who are in the same category ... but hey, I tried to do the right thing!

Good luck!

Liane, I'll fix it right now if I knew which one it was. Let me know.
