Maybe this has been mentioned but I noticed that when you include a trademarked name in a DMOZ search no results are returned.

Ex:

'Sony radios' returns no results.

'radios' returns many.

It works like this for the other trade names I tried as well.

That's because the dmoz search currently only returns results where the search terms are found in a category name (this is a bug that is being worked on).

Since there are no categories where the name contains both of your search terms, you get no result. If you search for "sony" alone, or eg. for "sony corporation", you will find categories that match.

Thanks Bird. I thought it may have had something to do with the hubbub going on over infringments we've been hearing about, not so.

Yes, think of dmoz.org search as a "site search for dmoz.org", not a "web search". Its just coincidence that, since so much of the web is referenced somewhere on dmoz.org, you can find a lot of web content that way.
