Does it matter if you're for-profit?

I am listed in DMOZ/ODP and Zeal. For years I have been a not-for-profit site. Now I am going to try some ads.

I am also listed in the Yahoo! directory and know that I will now have to pay $300 a year to be in the directory were it was free before.

I'd had the idea that this was true with all directories -- that they only listed not-for-profit sites for free. But I just looked at DMOZ/ODP and Zeal and it looks like I was wrong.

I just want to confirm... will DMOZ/ODP and Zeal keep me in their directories for free when I become for-profit?

Also, are there any other major directories I might consider?

Thanks, Peter

If you are just running advertising and that is the only change, assuming content and most everything else stays the same, I don't think any of the directories will care.

If you want to change your title and/or description and the site has to be re-reviewed anything could happen.

If all the listings accurately reflect the content of the site, I wouldn't do anything. Don't pay Yahoo!, leave the ODP listings as they are, same with Zeal.

As for other directories, just browse through the last page or two of threads.
