I am creating a directory site and was wondering if there are any alternative data sources to the ODP?

The problem with the ODP is that it is just too big. I need something that is a little easier to work with.

I wan't something that can be manipulated using coldfusion.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I don't know, but I have seen spiders in my logs gathering data to be used in directories. I haven't really looked into the details, but there's a lot of information out there on building your own spiders and page scrapers using Perl. Lynx is also useful.

I tried the ODP data, but Google wouldn't index my pages because of the duplicate content issue.

could you PM any links you have. That would be really handy. I've looked for tutorials on how to design spider but I haven't had any luck.
