Directory PFI - Good Long-term Investment?

Need help in building long-term traffic!

What do you guys think about building a site's traffic if you want to make it more popular in the long term?

Should I think about investing in PFI Directories? From what I have read, PFI SE's are only useful for "boosting" new websites...

What PFI Directories would you recommend? Is SE optimization a smarter investment? Please let me know of any suggestions you may have! Thanks in advance!

Read this [webmasterworld.com] thread and follow its advice - that's a great investment because it's free and will likely be far more successful in the short and long term than almost all the PFI options. Some people think that the Yahoo directory is worth the $299 review fee, but that's a contentious issue. Look at Adwords and Overture PPC schemes as well.

At the end of the day, it depends on your niche. If you're an information site then you'll probably be permanently in debt if you have to pay for listings and traffic. If you're selling really high ticket items like luxury sports cars then even a conversion rate of 0.01% might make it worthwhile to be paying quite a lot for your traffic.
