Well, I rose to the challenge and applied to be an editor.

Rejected. I am a little miffed.

It is a cat that I know has not had an editor in over a year (the last one passed away after a serious illness). A cat in which I have significant National and International contacts.

In my application I included unique sites of significant content (including .gov) that were not in the Directory. I outlined my relationship to the industry related to the cat.

Well, according to the ODP, the category is already well represented, or is broader than typically assigned to a new editor.

Perhaps they would accept me if I applied for Wombat Breeders in Lower Slobovia?

I personally know of at least 6 sites that have waited in the queue for over 6 months in this cat.

I also know that this cat was completely (and IMHO, needlessly) reorganized about 18 months ago in a way that created over 100 sub-cats of questionable distinction.

Don't complain about overwork if you will not accept the volunteers that offer up their time!

Apply for a more limited cat? Given the current structure of the cat in question it would be meaningless.

Have a great day...

New editors are encouraged to apply to categories with less than 100 sites, so you apply to a category with over 100 SUB-CATEGORIES.

Interesting worldview.
