Should I submit our site to DMOZ regional subcategory?

I submitted our site to DMOZ category 2 months ago. It is still waiting for review (ridiculous). Is it good idea to submit the site to one of regional subcategories?

(ridiculous)

Well, how many sites have you reviewed for the ODP yet, and how many have you submitted? Since most people in forums like this one answer "1 or more" to the first and "None" to the second question, what do you expect? And don't forget it is a free submission.

Is it good idea to submit the site to one of regional subcategories?

If the site has regional content (for example if it is about a brick and mortar shop somewhere) - why not? Choose the most precise regional category you can find, saves editors a lot of time (and so most likely speeds up the reviewing process)

Erm, should be "none for the first question and one or more for the second question"... ;)

I hardly think a wait of two months is outrageous. The regional categories are swelled with unreveiwed sites as are most others. The ODP clearly states on almost every submission page (down at the bottom) that this category needs an editor. You may want to take some of your time to help rectify the situation by volunteering some of your time to help clear the backlog. I wouldn't suggest requesting a top-level regional category, but a much lower sub-category that you are interested in. The upper level cats. are left for more experienced editors. You may not believe it, but the editors at the ODP are working their behinds off. Do you have any idea how long it takes to review certain sites? Everytime I see someone complaining about the ODP I suggest "become a part of the solution". There is a larger learning curve than most people understand about the ODP. We are not BOTS - we hand check each site not in seconds but in rare instances as much as 30 minutes to 1 hour. Your best bet is to make sure you submit right the first time and then just wait. Griping about it won't speed up the process.

I spent over an hour checking out a site a few days ago. Great content, superb navigation, really well done; but something niggled in the back of my mind. Eventually I discovered it was a mirror of something already listed in another related category, and a further chance accidental click on a random site in yet another category uncovered a network of 20+ domains all really being one entity.

In the end, I spent over two hours on this, and didn't actually add any more sites to the directory, I removed several. This has improved the quality of what is listed, but I would rather have spent the time looking at sites that I could include. So, you should really blame at least some of the delays in being listed on all the idiots who try to "pull one over" on the editors.

I think ODP is like former communist countries. Inefficient, bureaucratic and corrupted. Just an opinion, my God don't take it so personal. It reminds me of former Soviet Union actually.
I would rather pay $300 like I did for Yahoo listing, than wait for months. Yes I think that is ridiculous, and I don't want to volunteer my time, I just want service.
Who cares if you give away the best ice-cream in the world if I have to wait 6 months to get it.
Anyway my original post was not about complaining about ODP. I just asked the question about submitting site to subcategory, and made one word comment about ODP.

You are really confused. DMOZ is NOT a listing service for webmasters. You do not get service when you are not a customer.

Lets not go down this road.
