Placed in Deep Category Business.com Directory

Will I receive any SEO benefit in terms of PageRank?

I just submitted to Business.com and my site was listed deep in the directory, about 5 categories deep. While the category is probably the most accurate, the page only has a Google PageRank of 3 :(

Besides the obvious benefit of receiving traffic from them, is it still possible that I will get some PageRank benefit from this?

There are only about 6 other sites on that page, and it seems sometimes pages with less than 4 rank can pass along their rank?

Yes, I think you will get some pagerank benefit.

and it seems sometimes pages with less than 4 rank can pass along their rank?

Pages that link to you and have a PR of less than 4 usually don't show up when you do the "link:www.mysite.com" query. (Some people have reported seeing pages with PR3 in their backlinks.) However, I think most people would agree that pages with less than PR4 do pass some pagerank - as long as it is a "straight" link, ie, not a redirect.

Thanks Beth, it sounds like at least I didn't completely throw $100 out the window. So far I don't see any back link information on Google, but it may be that the googlebot hasn't gotten around to indexing that page yet.

My home page has a PR 4/5 without a link from Yahoo or DMOZ, I'm trying to get it to the 6/7 range. I recently submitted to Yahoo so hopefully that should help and I was hoping Business.com would help some too.

As far as DMOZ is concerned, I submitted back in May of '03 and still haven't been added (awaiting review). I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait.

Thanks for your feedback.
