How long to wait?

I submitted a site a couple of months ago that has not so far been accepted into DMOZ in the original category for which is was submitted. (The category doesn't have an editor.)

The site would also fit in okay in a different related category (that does have an editor), but when is it okay to submit it to the second category? I don't want to appear to be trying to get multiple links for the same site.

Any advice would be appreciated.

(The category doesn't have an editor.)
Strictly speaking, there is no such thing. A category without an editor listed in it is managed by the editors in the category listed above (no one may be listed for Widgets/Spinning/Blue, but the Widgets/Spinning and Widgets/ editors have full access to it).

site would also fit in okay
The directive is always to submit once to the most specific subject category. Submitting to a different category will not mean the site will be reviewed or listed there or multiple times, it just means the submission to Widgets/Twisting/Blue -- having waited to be reviewed-- will just be sent back to Widgets/Spinning/Blue for even more waiting.

If you want to check on the status of the submission, do a web search for the ODP public forum and ask there.
