The title and description that the "reviewers" created for one of my sites don't come close to what services that are offered.
An excerpt of their description
"Discover information...." "...relates to revenue..."
These words Never appear in the site let along describe the services offered.

I read their policy on changes:

>As an Express Submit customer, we do allow you to suggest changes to our editors for 30 days following your acceptance into the LookSmart Network.
Ok fine well the original submit date is 9-19-00

>Changes to site reviews will only be accepted if the reviews are factually incorrect.
Well.. this is true their description does not even come close.

>After 30 days, you must use the Express Submit service, and pay the submission fee, to suggest changes to our editors.
So I have to pay more $ to get them to fix their mistake?

Has anyone got their listing changed?
If so did you have to pay for it?
How long did it take?

Lucky

I tried to change a non-paid listing and ended up having to pay. If I had it to do over again knowing what I know now, I would have simply paid the $79.00 (which is now $99.00) for the 8-week service and not lost all that time.

If there is a way to do it without paying, in my experience, it takes more time and effort than the fee. :(

On 1-26-00 I went to LS Change Form [submit.looksmart.com]
and submitted all the information in the form, and this comment:

After reading the description that was created for this listing
"bla bla bla"
I feel as though it is not relevant to the sites function.

This site is about bla bla bla ,bla bla bla and
bla bla bla services,
Not how it can relate to revenue.
However, we do offer tips and trick on bla bla bla.

In order to help you with your relevance policy please consider
changing the description to
"bla bla bla"

On 2-1-01 They got back to me:

Hi,
Thanks for your email. I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I've changed your site description to read more along the lines of your request.
The description now reads as follows:

TITLE
DESC.

Please allow a few days for the change to be published on LookSmart. Also, please be aware that it may take longer for the change to be published on our partners' sites.

Regards,
BOB JONES
LookSmart Quality Assurance, Submit a Site

So the FREE change form does work even after the claimed "After 30 days, you must use the Express Submit service".

Now let's see how long it will take their partners to update.

names changed to protect the innocent ;)

Just to add my experience:

I paid for a listing, which was promptly added. However, my description was butchered, and I was placed in (IMO) a bad cat. The whole thing focused mainly on one of my subpages, and I submitted my index page.

I have heard good success of getting listings changed, and a friend has had success in requesting a more proper cat, resulting in 2 listings with mediocre descripts. I really wanted the best of both of these resolutions, so I decided to think on it a couple days before acting. (Didn't want to ask for too much, but wanted what my $200 was worth.)

When I was ready to request a change, I happened to think about haing paid for my index page listing, and getting a subpage listing. (URL listed was for subpage.) I thought great, even more ammo for my situation. I checked the listing again to be sure I wasn't dreaming about the URL thing earlier, and lo and behold, I had another new listing, for the proper cat, with a great description. Very close to my original submission.

I couldn't have asked for anything better. I just wonder if my original submission was accepted, and they threw in the subpage one as a bonus (I made a quick comment about the subpage on the submission), and it just showed up earlier in the DB.

Excellent, both! :)

I just ran into a problem with a client who is an ISP.

LookSmart had his main page listed appropriately and in the correct category before they went P4I. However, he also offers design and resources for designers, and we paid to have that page listed.

They listed his subpage well, but lo and behold, on the day that listing appeared, the main page disappeared!

I wrote to LS this morning about it and will keep us all posted here as to the outcome.

2-03-01 LookSmart title an desc updated per e-mail on 2-01-01

They placed the "new" image next to it as well and looks like they move my cat as well
But i still only have 1 listing.

Is there a way to search and see if there are more than 1 listing other than
search for www.MYSITE.com?
