Message Too Old, No Replies

When will ODP start showing updates?

It always seem to be soon.

Have any editors heard when the pubic dmoz pages will be showing the updated reviewed sites? This seems to be dragging on now.

The updated pages seem to come to the public server in bits and pieces (e.g. Google for 'site:dmoz.org "Friday, August 1, 2003"'). The process seems to work in alphabetic order of top level catories. This means that the pubic pages, i.e. the Adult/ category hierarchy of which you seem to inquire in particular should be completed first.

The ODP public pages are still having a few problems, the staff are working on it as this is one of the only problems remaining after the big server update.

In short: soon I hope ;)

twilight, you're an editor -- ask in the ODP editor forums.

I've tried there and I recieved very little feedback. Webmasterworld, IMO, is the best overall board and has been much more responsive than the ODP editor forum.

What would lead you to believe that if ODP editors don't know when the update will occur, non-ODP editors would?

What would lead you to believe that Webmasterworld only has non-ODP editors in it's forums? Tipton's one.

This is the kind of non-helpful response I have found at the ODP forum. I fail to see the usefulness of it on either site.

You aren't the only editor who's in the dark about this. You are, however, the only editor I've seen saying that there's more knowledge about it "out here" than "in there" where the ODP editors actually get responses from staff about such things. Perhaps you don't know where to look, or you think you'll be cc'd in on any staff announcements? You'll have to find the right thread in the Bugs_and_Features forum, but that shouldn't be too hard.

You have heard here (see posts #2 and #3 in this thread) and presumably also in the ODP forum that ODP staff is working on it as a matter of priority and that a subset of pages has already been updated. You seem to expect a completion date but it's in the nature of debugging a process that you can't know when you will be done until you are done.

I am one as well - but I never said otherwise.

Yea, there seem to be quite a few around even if they all don't come right out and say it.
