Editor Refuses to enter URL into Zeal

He says it is commercial, when it is not commercial in any way!

Hi All,
I have a website that provides educational materials on having a wdiget replaced. On the first page it clearly state "this is not a commercial site it is designed to provide educational materials for people interested in widget replacement."

I have no banners, affiliate links, or products on the site at all. It has about 100 pages, with one contact page the provides a free "consulation" to website users.

I have read and re-read the looksmart guidlines for commercial sites 1000 times trying to find something that makes the site commercial, but can't.

Does anyone know if it is possible to submit the site to a specific editor to get a "second opinion"? On the Zeal message board people have been complaining all over about this editor saying sites that are not commercial whatsoever are commercial, and deny listings based on that.

Is it possible to email a "supervisor" to look into this?

It is very frustrating for me and everyone else who has good, non commercial sites that should be listed, but are not.

Thank you very much

Thanks hutcheson,

A certain median for site design exists to please all parties. Zeal obviously was not pleased, and the ODP was.

You summed up the need to "shoot for the middle" when designing sites for directory inclusiong.

I appreciate your comments,
take care

The difference is the ODP doesn't mind commercial content. Only relevance that has may be which category your site should be listed. At Zeal, commercial content is forbidden. Your best bet for Zeal would be move the info content to a subsection, with just a single link to the home page from that.

Sorry I'm late to the party here but after cruising through these posts I think I see a bit of a misunderstanding regarding the Zeal directory. The Zeal Directory is the non-commercial side of the Looksmart Directory. If you have a commercial site, then you have to pay Looksmart to get it listed (they've gotta have a source of income to stay in business y'know).

If you have individual subpages that didn't refer to this physician, who's obviously giving out good information but the total intent of this site is to get people to go to his hip clinic and pay him money, that were just educational and no mention of the clinic or physician, it might be considered non-commercial. But in this case, every page has something that points the searcher to this commercial clinic which means you can only get it listed for a price on LookSmart.

Apologies on the delay.
