DMOZ Editor Application Confirmation

e-mail won't go through

Okay, so i've been waiting to put in my editor application to DMOZ, and finally got it in today. I quickly received the confirmation e-mail. When I replied to it, however, the e-mail got rejected. It came back saying:

<apply@aol.net>:
205.188.157.153 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 <apply@aol.net>... User unknown
Giving up on 205.188.157.153.

Does this have anything to do with the server update today? Also, it seems kind of odd that the DMOZ application e-mail address is apply@aol.net. I'm really confused.

I just checked my email, I've been accepted for Chefmoz, I can fix all the typos I was posting updates on!

I'm not a moderator here, but this looks like a legitimate question to me. (A form of the "dmoz.org is down" announcement.)

Last I heard, dmoz.org was not intended to be taking editor applications or site submittals yet. I'd expect them to be working again sometime this week. (Editors are really enjoying the new servers!)

Has anybody figure out if apply@dmoz.org is the correct email response to application for editor?

They sent me an email asking me to respond to apply@aol.net but obviously its not correct.

Normally how long does it take to get a response back if application was accepted? Assuming of course if apply@dmoz.org is the correct email address? Please Advise. Thanks~!

ODP editors have nothing to do with the process other than the metas or catmods reading apps and acting on them. We didn't program the system and can't fix it either.

Nobody ever said that everything would be perfect as of July 21 anyhow.

The reply address... hmmmmm

Perhaps this is the first "test" you have to pass to become an editor - ;)

Try every other day or so until it works. Bugs are being ironed out with the scripts and such even as I type.

Looks to me like it would be best to wait a bit before submitting an application.

Everything the ODP did was originally all located on one just domain.

Late last year the system began to max out, and became almost unusable.

Recent upgrades have seen some needed hardware changes and the splitting off of several functions onto separate subdomains. For people who already have bookmarks and links set up, a number of redirects have been put in place so they can find the new locations. Some are only temporary while certain jobs are being done.

The apply problem might be down to something that doesn't redirect properly. The mail system is on a different server at the moment; but I don't know if that is the final planned location.
