When I type in a keyword in MSN there are no sponsered matches because it is not in the top 25,000 searches so the first listings are the web directory listings. I am on the first page at number seven. How do you get to number one?

Speak to LS & offer to pay them. Works for us :)

Get a good title and description in Looksmart to rank, but this still still a bit hit and miss and the looksmart editors have the final say. You can request a listing to be updated (with cost) or submit a new domain under the looksmart PPC.

If you talk to LS they will tell you they have no control over what MSN does with their information. They do not want to talk about it. They say there is nothing they can do. IF MSN decides that their are only directory listing for your keyword that is end of story. There is nothing LS can do about that. This is only a discousion about how to get to the top of the web directory listings.

Hi ogletree

Many of the top "web directory" listings on MSN in competitive sectors get there by paying looksmart on a CPC basis.

Its true that Looksmart have no control over MSN serps so we must get LS to do what we want once we've the MSN algo cracked.

I think the answer to your Q is that very few people are 100% certain on how to manipulate LS listings so that it effects your position on MSN.

We've found that getting top on Ink effects our "Web directory" spots even though they're "just" supplied by LS.
