If you find any category that currently does not have an editor and you apply.

Every category I have found gives the message, "Currently not looking, on hold, too big for a new editor.

Has anybody else noticed this?

Question is, I wonder why?

Sorry it is ODP that is not accepting!

It can become quite frustrating. I have been trying to get a site listed now for almost 18 months and an editor has not yet been assigned. I have applied twice and never heard anything back on either ocasion.

I think it is just a fact of life. The ODP can never be perfect.

Mack.

Due to the current server upgrades, it is not possible to apply at the moment. I don't believe that's the message you are supposed to be receiving, but considering all the things the tech people have to do to finish the upgrade, fixing the message might not be high on the list.

You should receive an automated e-mail that you have to reply to when you apply. If you don't receive the automated e-mail then the ODP hasn't received your application. If you apply and get rejected then you also receive an e-mail with general or specific guidance as to why you were rejected and whether you should consider reapplying.

Someone with a better knowledge of the technical details of the submission process might be able to suggest why your application might not have got through.

As pointed out above, due to technical upgrades currently ongoing, you should wait for a few weeks before considering applying again as we can't process applications at the moment.
