It can take months, but you have to remember it's free so we can't really shout too much

As has been stated several times in other threads in this forum, the Open Directory has vastly outgrown the resources that were originally allocated to it. The old server was not up to the task of hosting the directory and handling the large number of access requests it received (many of them automated). This explains the server errors.

Fortunately, new servers have been acquired and are being installed, but the upgrade process is going slowly. During the upgrade, editors have more reliable access than the public, but editors also are seeing many internal server errors. We all need to be patient in this frustrating situation....

As for "monitors" who "never reply to e-mails," remember that dmoz editors are volunteers. They are unlikely to be favorably inclined toward people who send angry e-mail demanding special consideration for their businesses. Furthermore, during a period when volunteer editors are having difficulty accessing the servers for any purpose, even checking the status of a submission may be difficult or impossible. As I said above, be patient.

>>an internal server error every 5 seconds

Try submitting between 11pm and 7am US time (take you pick of which US time)

There is less load on DMOZ servers then an I invariably can get a submission quickly made at those times.

And as Orlady says , editors are "unlikely to be favorably inclined toward people who send angry e-mail demanding ..." DMOZ may be frustrating, arrogant, on its last legs... but if you want a listing you will find that kindness/politeness tends to work better than anger on editors.

well thanks for the advice oh wise one, but all of ur advice is listed on the ODP website so much for supplying me with researched soloutins to a problem that has been apparent for many moths, at which point in my post did on comment on an angry email to an editor in order to get special treatment, i believe i tried the suggested means to get listed which failed then continued by contacting the aditor of the sub-section i wished to be listed in! <snip> to your ego

>>how the hell am i going to get listed with this directory<<

You're confusing a successful submission with a guaranteed (?) listing. If there were no problems with the ODP servers and you could submit a million times a day, there is still no guarantee of a listing.
