I run an e-com site that ships all over the world. I've just been checking out the competition, and noticed that some have DMOZ listings in both the general category and the regional (UK) one - both entries point to the same domain. We only have a listing in the general category. This seems to be giving them a bit of an advantage over us in Google.

So is there any reason why I shouldn't just submit our site in the regional category as well? If I shouldn't do this, can I (or should I) report my competitor?

Sites that are relevant to a subject category and a specific local geographic area. Many sites can be listed once in a topical branch of the ODP, and once in the Regional category.

I edit in a regional category and often have sites that are listed in the relevant topical area that are then added to the relevant regional category.

In general, sites are allowed both a topical and a regional listing if their content is a) relevant to a wide audience (e.g. informational) and b) relevant to a local area (e.g. a brick and mortar location).

In this instance I think the question is actually asking - can a site have the following listings (example):

Business/.../Plumbing

and

Regional/.../UK/Business/.../Plumbing

Answer:

If the business is located in e.g. Winchester then you could have a listing in

Regional/.../UK/.../Winchester/Business_and_Economy/[relevant-subcategory]

If your business is a nationwide plumbing company then you could have a listing at the top UK level, i.e. Regional/.../UK/Business/.../Plumbing . If it only serves a smaller area then you would have to submit to the appropriate locality.
